More Strippers Please, ...!

21.1.2021 - 20.2.2021

Nosbaum Reding Projects presents More Strippers Please,.?.?.!, the second solo exhibition in our premises by Tilo Kaiser. The work of the German multimedia artist, who draws inspiration from his extensive travels around the globe, combines influences from a wide range of artistic movements, including Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and graffiti. Working in a collage-like manner, Kaiser sources his raw material from various vernacular contexts ? books, leaflets, newspaper ads, letters, sketches, maps, bills, but also fabrics, tape, etc. ? to create vibrant compositions populated with cartoon-like characters, ubiquitous pictograms and generic motifs such as the rainbow. Alternating painterly techniques and styles, his dense and visually challenging arrangements are the result of a complex process of overlayering and overlapping, their seemingly casual rendering belying the craftsmanship that has gone into their making. Extending in all directions, bursting with possible meanings, threatening to come apart at the seams, Kaiser?s skilful mash-ups capture the frenzy of contemporary society, with its constant stream of visual stimuli and indiscriminate associations of the meaningful and the banal.

?

Tilo Kaiser (b. 1965 in Frankfurt/Main) lives and works in London. He studied painting under Judith Linhares at the School of Visual Arts in New York, where he lived until 2006. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions around the world, including Australia, China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Thailand and the USA, and can be found in numerous corporate and private collections.

Nosbaum Reding Projects pr?sente More Strippers Please,. .
